Talland Bay is situated at the bottom of a valley and although it is the ideal "get away" location, it is quite easily accessible, approached by a country lane off the main Looe to Polperro road. The nearest main line station is at Liskeard and there is a branch line from there into Looe - we can arrange to pick you up from the station or advise you of a local taxi. Newquay airport - 45 minutes away - has regular daily flights to and from Stanstead and Gatwick airports.
Talland is a quiet hamlet, with just a few residents, a hotel and two cafes - one on the beach below Little Phoenix and another in the next bay which does barbeques in the summer.
Well worth a visit is the Church of Talland, situated on the hillside with superb views over the bay and just a few minutes walk away from the cottage.
Polperro is a 45 minute walk along the coastal path and is a typical Cornish fishing village, with plenty of pubs and restaurants - we can personally recommend the Blue Peter, which has a varied menu with fresh fish every lunch time and was recently voted the best pub in Cornwall.
Going east along the coastal path, an hour's walk will bring you to Looe, a bustling harbour and seaside town. Here you can watch the boats unloading their catch, go fishing from the harbour or take a fishing trip on one of the many boats. There are plenty of quaint shops and streets to browse around or you may prefer to spend time on the lovely sandy beach.
The village of Pelynt is three miles inland, where there is a well stocked Spar shop which caters for most needs. There is a small supermarket in Looe, but a large Morrisons store can be found in Liskeard.
The rest of Cornwall is not far away - Land's End takes only about 90 minutes and there is a wealth of typical Cornish villages to explore on the way.
We keep a book of all the major attractions, so you can always find something to do, whatever the weather.
